I also can’t run the gateway because it’s forced on port 443 and i’m running a webserver that uses that for HTTPS.

I want to control my alexa compatible devices and see my IP camera all from one tablet, but it seems impossible :(

Do you guys have any prospection on bringing Monocle to Brazil?
It doesn’t even need to be in Portuguese. The great majority of Brazilians that already use it, do so in English…
The problem is that, to use it in Brazil, you need to transfer your account region to another country, what makes all your subscriptions be cancelled. So, if you have all your household subscriptions on said account, you can’t do the procedure.

Please! Bring the skill to our country, we already use it, but some of us are being kept from using it. There is no skill for ip cameras in our country, every single one we have to change the region to abilitate it.

I use local IPs for the cameras basic authentication and I run the gateway with API’s and as a service. Once I did that I got everything to run.

No, Monocle does not alter the video stream or re-encode the video. In some cameras there is a configuration option to flip the video.

Perhaps in the strictest definition, devices of type “Cameras” can’t offer two way talk (twt), but I have devices shown in the All Devices category of the Alexa app that offer this feature (two-way talk), most notably, Amcrest SmartHome (ASH). ASH can do this with my Echo Show and my Firestick 4k, but it only supports ASH compatible cameras. The twt feature of the other two-way-talk capable cams in my home (Amcrest branded, but not SmartHome compatible) works with my NVR and BlueIris and their dedicated phone apps. Integration with Alexa Show/FireTV via Monocle for any camera’s twt feature would be a nice bonus, epecially considering that the SmartHome / Alexa integration literally requires a restart of my SH cam after any time I use the talk feature from anything other than the Alexa skill.

while working on the AVM Fritzbox issue I ran lack of some information to do a better troubleshooting. So I would ask you to add some more lines to the troubleshooting guide or to the context of DNS rebind troubleshooting…

There were some lines (I think four) writing [REQUEST] in ‘monocle-gateway --tail’ every time I did a request via Echo with IPv4 Google DNS. So I conclused the Echo found the right IP and talks to the gateway but it was wrong.

Please add some logs of ‘monocle-gateway --tail’. One log to show a working request and one log to show network-issue. I found the bad log in the post https://forum.monoclecam.com/topic/207/camera-not-responding-resolved-see-post-below. You wrote there that Alexa don’t connect. That was the final hint for me to know there is a problem with networking.

Second it may be useful for users to find command lines for ‘nslookup’ and ‘dig’ in the troubleshooting guide. For example on windows press Start, type cmd <Return>. The command-prompt opens. Then type ‘nslookup <monocle-host> 8.8.8.8’ to use Google-DNS and ‘nslookup <monocle-host>’ to use default DNS-Server for comparison. It should give the IP of the monocle-gateway. Unfortunaly asking IPv6 DNS-Server is more complicated. But maybe you can give at least a hint to this tools in the guide.

I’m not using Alexa at all for myself but had to support a neighbour. So I found your service and gateway an I want to say: You’re donig very nice work :v:
