<![CDATA[FireTV 3rd Gen 16:9 image looks like 4:3 format]]>I finally got my AMCREST camera’s to display via use of FireTV cube(s) on my large screen TV’s when I first got them to work my camera resolution was 320x240 (4:3) so I figured I could change the camera resolution to selected 768x432 (16:9) thinking I would see a camera in a 16:9 but to my surprise it looks like I’m still getting a 4:3 display rather than 16:9. I’ve tried other resolutions up to 3849x2160 (16:9) 4K with not joy, what am I missing or is this a MONOCLE/ALEXA issue? thanxs in advance Mike

Looking at my URL “rtsp://192.168.1.XXX:80XX/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=1” I noticed that I had subtype=1 set when I changed it to 0 and viewing it in VLC Player “lo and behold” I now see 16:9 screen, thanxs for technical advice. Changing the resolution on the camera should work. Monocle does not do anything with the video stream so whatever the resolution the camera is outputting is what the Alexa device should display. (Albeit some Alexa device may scale for their lower resolutions screens.)

Please note that most cameras can output two or more streams and the details in the RTSP URL will access each of these streams discreetly. So it may be possible that you have a secondary stream defined by your RTSL URL and that’s why changing the camera’s resolution is not affecting the display on your FireTV?
