A Monocle API token is an abstract authentication token that allows a service such as the Monocle Gateway service to connect to the Monocle platform on behalf of your user account. API tokens can be created and revoked from your user account page in the Monocle web portal.
The Monocle Gateway service requires a unique API token to run. Please generate and download a dedicated token file for exclusive use with the Monocle Gateway service.
Generate an API Token
T.B.D - Basically just navigate to your “My Account” page while logged in to the Monocle web portal and use the “Add API Token” button and give the token some name to help identify its purpose like “Monocle Gateway Token”. Once you get the token displayed in the confirmation prompt you can use the download button to download it as a file. (

For some reason, I can’t seem to be able to download the token after generating it. It generates just fine and shows me the code…but when I click “download” it does nothing but go back to the main screen (and shows the token and the option to delete it).
Tried from both Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
Also tried to right click the “download” button and it doesn’t give me the “normal” options (open in new tab, etc). For kicks, I also clicked the “dismiss” button and it saves the token, instead of deleting it.
I’ll keep an eye out for it to get fixed and go from there.

OK, I’m looking into that issue now.
In the meantime, the file is just a plain text file with the contents of the token that is shown on screen. So you can just create a text file named “monocle.token” and copy and paste the token value in the file.
