Reolink and Amcrest cameras not displaying on Echo Show 8
-
My Reolink and Amcrest cameras work over the Monocle gateway with @tunnel and display perfectly on Echo Show 1st gen, Echo Show 2nd gen, and Fire TV 4k. The same cameras do not display on my Echo Show 8. Yet, a GW Security camera with similar resolution displays on all the above devices including the Echo Show 8. My Reolink cameras are RLC-420’s and display at 2560 x 1440. The GW Security GW-GW5747MIC has a resolution of 2592 x 1944 and it displays fine on all the devices including the Echo Show 8. All my cameras use @tunnel. Any ideas?

I believe the Echo Show 5 and 8 is limited to 1080P streams. Any higher resolution from the camera and the Echo Show will fail to display the stream.

Oh, I just saw your comment on the GW Security GW-GW5747MIC resolution of 2592 x 1944.
I’ll have to test some of my cameras and see if any of them render on the Echo Show 8 with higher resolutions. In the meantime, can you lower the resolutions or use the cameras secondary stream to try and see if they will work on the Echo Show 8?
Thanks, Robert

Robert, it does not seem to be resolution based in my tests. @tunnel on the gateway handles the Reolink camera display to Echo Show 1st gen, Echo Show 2nd gen, and Fire TV 4k, but not Echo Show 8.

@Monocle Robert, The interesting thing is that the Echo Show 1st Gen has a resolution of 1024x600 and the Echo show 2nd Gen has a resolution of 1280x800 and both these devices display my Reolink cameras over the MOnocle Gateway. The Echo Show 8 also has a resolution of 1280x800 but cannot display the Reolink cameras. Since the resolution is the same between the 2nd Gen and the Echo Show 8, there must be something else different in the device type that prevents it from working. The Echo Show 8 does display Nest Cameras and Wyze cameras with the appropriate Echo Skill. Interestingly, I am able to display my GW Security Camera over the Monocle Gateway on the Echo Show and it has a resolution of 2592x1944. I must conclude that resolution of the camera or the camera stream is not the limiting factor in having the camera display on an Echo Show 8.

I have never been able to get my Reolink RLC-520’s working on my Echo Show 8. These cameras work great on the Echo Show 10 2nd Gen and also on the Fire TV 4k Stick. Any ideas?
