I recently updated my Ubiquiti equipment from a CloudKey Gen 2 to a Dream Machine SE… and my Alexa / Monocle camera feeds quit working.

When looking through the various settings / configurations, I noticed that my rtsp streams for my cameras (within Unifi Protect) have been changed to rtsps streams.

I have read how I can continue to utilize / access the less-secure rtsp streams from the device – but I’m wondering if Monocle supports (or will support) the rtsps format?

The Alexa devices does not inherently support RTSPS (at least it’s not documented as such).

        See:
        https://developer.amazon.com/en-US/docs/alexa/device-apis/alexa-camerastreamcontroller.html it only lists RTSP.

However, Alexa does require a TLS secured connection with valid certificates (which is not part of the RTSP protocol specification); however I’m not sure if that alone meets the RTSPS specification compliance requirements. I don’t have any cameras that support RTSPS currently. I should probably try to get a Unifi camera and start testing it out. Would you be able to make a RTSPS steam temporarily available to me for testing? If so, you can PM me the details.

        Thanks, Robert

@Monocle I so wish I’ve seen this earlier. I’d be happy to provide a multitude of RTSP(S) streams from my setup for you to use. Glad you’ve gotten your own for testing / use, but let me know if you need more for testing. Overall, it sounds like you’ve confirmed the source of the issues, not sure additional streams would help at this point. If it helps, I can provide 1.x.x stream to make sure new code is backwards compatible.

Can confirm that gateway has no issues getting the stream remotely. While not as fast to start as local stream(s), there are only a few additional seconds overhead, so not bad.

            Thanks again,
            Gene

Thank you for the 1.x stream for backwards compatibility testing. So far its working great with the new changes to Monocle Gateway. (https://forum.monoclecam.com/topic/1242/unifi-camera-update-fix-available-for-testing-now/14?_=1659280156800)

              Thanks, Robert
