HikVision DS-2CD2125FWD-IS doesn't work with Echo Show 5/8 for me
-
Good day!
I am running a HikVision DS-2CD2125FWD-IS on our local network and would like to view this camera thanks to monoclecam on my Amazon Echo Show 5 2nd generation and my Amazon Echo Show 8 2nd generation which are on the same network.I have already read through all the troubleshooting guides and tried around a lot, however, I can not receive the image I can receive in VLC Media in the camera. I should have everything set up correctly, but Alexa always loads briefly after asking me to open the camera and tells me after about 5 seconds that the camera is not responding. The “waiting for camera” screen is displayed though.
Here is my configuration:
I already tried another resolution, BASIC instead of DIGEST authentication, omitted the port, selected another channel, but everything works in VLC but not in monoclecam.
If you have any further questions, I am of course at your disposal.
Thanks in advance! -
Try setting the timeout to 120 seconds (I use 120). First test only with the Echo Show 8. I remember reading that the Echo Show 5 has some unusual differences (I have an Echo Show 10, 2nd generation). Check that the camera is using the H264 codec. Use the command, “Alexa, show the Eingang.”

@DIY300 thank you very much for your fast response! :)
I’ve tried to configure the idleTimeOutSeconds to 120 seconds.
According to the monocle camera feed, it tried to receive the camera feed with the updated value of 120 seconds, but my Alexa Echo Show 8 just tried to fetch a signal for like 5-10 seconds and just said several times, that my camera didn’t respond.
Did I do anything wrong? -
@jooonas
I don’t see anything that looks wrong, but I am not an expert. Some things to think about: did you tell the camera to encode with H264? My Dahua camera came with H264H as the default, but I changed it to H264. But I didn’t test both ways to see if it made a difference. Also, are you sure that your Echo Show 8 and the camera are connected to the same local network (the same WiFi router)? I’m not sure if WiFi extenders might cause a problem here. -
Would you need the @tunnel tag?
