Can the API tokens be generated for use in other than Alexa?

Sort of … to a very limited extent. The plan is to open up a more extensive API in the future as the project evolves. What did you have in mind?

        Thanks, Robert

I’m going to see if people smarter than I can incorporated the stream into Emby.

I did a little reading and if the LiveTV or IPTV plugin feature works with RTSP streams, then maybe all we need to do is provide a M3U feed of your cameras. I think this is definitely worth experimenting with if you are game.

              Thanks!

I’m willing to give it a whirl.

Just experimenting with it today, I was able to get my Monocle defined cameras showing up as “LiveTV” channels and displayed in the EPG (guide).

This works, but I’m not sure integrating the cameras as LiveTV channels is the right thing to do. I think a custom plugin would probably be ideal for this scenario. I’m looking into what that would take.

                Thanks, Robert

                  Do you use Emby too?

There is a surveillance cam plug-in already but it will not play my Armcrest cams using the same URL that works fine with monoclecam and Alexa show. This plug-in is not in the plug-in catalog but I can send you a copy and get you in touch with the developer.

I just installed Emby for the first time today. I have been using Plex but Emby looks worthy of a more in depth review.

Sure send along the info on the IP cam plugin. The IPTV plugin was also working for me too but you have to enter each camera stream individually.

I have not tested against an Amcrest camera yet … I’ll try that tomorrow. I did notice that the Emby server does transcode the camera stream to view it on an Android device or web browser.

xn--Heres-2v3b the discussion and latest dll link, As the next post states, put the dll in the Emby-Server/programdata/plugins folder. After that you restart the Emby Server and it will show up ready to configure.

I installed the “surveillance” plugin and its working for me. I did test using an Amcrest camera as well.

My newer Amcrest camera seemed to work OK, but an older model (IP2M-841B) seems to struggle. Very choppy video. This is the case on the IPTV and Surveillance plugins. Disabling the audio on the camera’s settings seemed to workaround the issue and allowed the video playback to be smooth.

You might try that on yours to see if it helps.

I also noticed that not all Emby clients perform the same. The Roku and SamsungTV client seemed to struggle or fail to view the camera streams. The FireTV and web browser clients worked for me.

Awesome! You just rolled right on in there…

I’ll turn off audio and see what happens.

I have those same Armcrest Cameras in silver, BTW and they work great in Alexa with your Skill. All my clients are ShieldTV so there should be no struggling!

The Emby server is doing some transcoding on the feeds. So hopefully your Emby server has enough muscle to get the job done. I have not tested on any small devices such as the RaspberryPi or other ARM based systems. I installed Emby server on an Intel i7 NUC for testing. So it does have hardware acceleration support enabled.

                                Thanks, Robert
