Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit
-
FYI, we successfully installed and tested the Monocle Gateway on the new Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit BETA version available here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=275370
The ARM64 distribution of Monocle Gateway should be used on systems running Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit BETA. (https://monoclecam.com/monocle-gateway/install/linux-arm64)

Hey.
Would you suggest that I move to 64 bit in that case? It would mean my 4GB pi can use all its memory and I think they run a little better on x64.

CheersNo, I would not recommend. I have not had any problem yet myself, but Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit is still in BETA. However, if you want to try it out to see if you get any better performance, then go for it – but just remember its all BETA at this point. I doubt the additional memory will make much difference for Monocle Gateway. The gateway does not do any encoding/decoding/transcoding, etc of the video stream. It’s a fairly lightweight process. Now if you are using a WiFi connection on the Pi, then a physically attached Ethernet connection could potentially make a difference/improvement.
Thanks, Robert

Hey thank you for the advice! I suspected that the memory would yield no difference as running pihole and a stream I sit at 300mb used… this is without the desktop environment loaded. I didn’t realise it was in beta, not that I paid much attention to it! Thanks for the info.
