Certificate Expired Again! Now my cams dont work... [SOLVED]
-
@tehShwann tht have the new cert you can see it on the home page and forums. They just didn’t apply it to the auth server
-
Yes, the certificate was replaced several weeks ago and should be valid until December 2021.
Checking the AUTH server now – we must have missed it or the deployment update must have failed to this server. Should be resolved shortly. Thanks, Robert
-
We have a validation tool that was telling us that the certificate was valid:
PROXY.MONOCLECAM.COM - EXPIRES IN 645 DAYS API.MONOCLECAM.COM - EXPIRES IN 645 DAYS AUTH.MONOCLECAM.COM - EXPIRES IN 645 DAYS PORTAL.MONOCLECAM.COM - EXPIRES IN 645 DAYS WWW.MONOCLECAM.COM - EXPIRES IN 645 DAYS FORUM.MONOCLECAM.COM - EXPIRES IN 645 DAYS MONOCLECAM.COM - EXPIRES IN 645 DAYS
However, there was a flaw in the validation logic as the SSL certificate for that service was expired as you guys have noted.
This false-positive caused us to miss replacing the certificate on this server. It has been replaced now and should be fully working.
Please let me know if you run into any further trouble. Thanks, Robert

@Monocle This same issue seems to have re-occured

@Monocle This same issue seems to have re-occured with me too

I don’t think it’s a certificate issue. The SSL certificate shows to still be valid … at least for me. However, I’m not able to re-link my Alexa account to the Monocle skill. I have not found any errors or anything wrong on our end yet … I’m still digging. It’s possible that Amazon is experiencing some type of outage/failure.
-
If you are seeing a SSL specific error, can you please post a screenshot or copy the text here. Thanks, Robert

Thanks – I am able to reproduce the issue now on a second gateway instance and I see the same error. Not sure why my first gateway server did not show this same error … odd. Digging into it further.

Yes, the validation tool was showing passing results, thus showing valid certificates.
The underlying issue is that a ROOT certificate has expired and some clients are not able to validate the Monoclecam certificate due to root certificate expiry. Some hosts can deal with validation using cross-signed certificates – so that is why my SSL tests were passing. (I think)

@Monocle Cheers if you need any further assistance i will await your communication dont mean to push
-
@Monocle Is this issue related to the fact that Alexa can’t connect the skill?
Thanks! -
The issue is a problem in the SSL certificate chain. Our certificate is valid but the ROOT certificate in the SSL chain has expired. This is causing problems with communication between Amazon Alexa and our services as well as communication errors between the Monocle Gateway and Monocle servers.
It should be fixed now.

The SSL issue should be resolved now!
We had the certificate provider reissue a new SSL certificate with a new verification chain (eliminating the expired root) and replaced the SSL certificates on our servers.
Please let me know if anyone is still having connectivity issues.PS: If you unlinked/disabled the Monocle skill, you will have to RE-LINK the skill to your Alexa account.
Thanks, Robert
